The most wonderful skies today as a storm blows in from the ocean. High winds tossing branches and leaves.
Pictures from the Gulf of Mexico where the oil slick is seeping in to the wetlands. Interested in Friedman's editorial today when he called the gushing well Obama's -9/11 and he called on him to not squander the opportunity to make real change in energy policy in the way that Bush squandering internationalism after the attack. I agree that Obama is being way too soft, too political. It's not about BP or Halliburton or any other corporation growing richer and richer off our addiction to oil, it's that we are refusing to do anything to change our dependence.
Almost equally disturbing images from Bangkok where protesters and police have been going head to head. Rocks and stones versus M-16s, burning buildings and a lack of compromise on either front. I think the insurgency ended today. Sounds like the police raided the protester compound and made mass arrests (and a few killings).
